I have been an archaeological illustrator, working in Greece, Cyprus, and Turkey for the past seven years. I have worked with material dating to the Bronze Age through the late Roman period. My expertise is in ceramic illustration and I have also worked with metal, ivory, gold, glass, terracotta, and wooden artifacts. My initial drawings are made in pencil, these I then scan and ink digitally. My work has been used in several publications and conference presentations, and future publications are in the midst of completion.
Archaeological illustration is an important aspect of excavation research and publication. Artifact illustrations highlight aspects of the archaeological material in a way that no other media can. Ceramic illustrations are the most common and helpful as they showcase interior dimensions, reconstructed decoration and shapes, as well as rim, body, and base features of the pottery that are paramount for dating purposes. Further, illustrations add a visual component to published reports that help to explain the researcher’s arguments in a clear and pleasing way.
Throughout this website you will find examples of my work, as well as my work history and contact information. Please feel free to contact me if you are in need of any archaeological illustrations - for either field or publication work, or both - in any part of the world. Contact me also if you have questions about archaeological illustration in general, I would be happy to talk with you!
